Long distance theater in Prospect Park

Melanie Jones, creator, producer, artist, and star of the show

Have you ever been curious about what it feels like to run a marathon but aren’t sure you are interested in finding out first hand? Check out “Endure,” a one-woman show opening in Prospect Park this weekend that takes you on an immersive journey through the thoughts of a marathon runner.

The BK Buzz went to an early performance of “Endure” this summer, which starts at the Old Stone House in Park Slope, winds its way through Prospect Park, and ends near the picnic house in the long meadow, and got a chance to talk to creator Melanie Jones, who has run four marathons, about her experiences running as inspiration for the show and how the immersive and experimental style of “Endure” allows the audience and the performer to challenge the traditional conventions of performance.

To find out more about “Endure” and grab tickets for one of the performances, check out the show’s website. “Endure” runs through October 23rd (just a few weeks short of the NYC Marathon). There are performances every Saturday and Sunday at 10am and 3pm, and while running is not required, working up a sweat is encouraged.
