The Sounds of Red Hook

We often think about what makes a community unique. And usually the things we consider include the people who live there, the places with visiting, and maybe some of the intangible feelings you get when you are there. But one aspect that I don’t think is considered as often as it should are the unique sounds of a place. It’s easy to disregard the background sounds but they help build the fabric of a community and are distinct to specific places. Check out this soundscape of Red Hook and consider how the things we hear might affect the way we interact with the place.
